*Or similar 5-star luxury accommodation

Please note

Our tour serves only vegan food and we take pride in offering it. However, it’s important to keep in mind that most Moroccans do not adopt a vegan lifestyle. During your stay, you may come across situations where animals are involved in routine daily activities and more. Our commitment is to deliver a travel experience that is characterized by compassion and mindfulness. This includes a sincere acknowledgment of the local culture and practices, even if they may differ from vegan principles. We encourage understanding and respect for the cultural context, while still ensuring a vegan-friendly journey for our participants. The trip is open to everyone — you are not required to be vegan to join us.

Who should come on this trip?

Anyone with a desire to be around a group of people who want to explore Morocco. The way of life in the country is not like the USA. Therefore, it’s important that travelers visit with an open-mind and understand that the culture and lifestyle is not the same. You will likely see animals being used to cart goods and in markets, as well as leather goods. In addition, it’s important that anyone joining this trip is open-minded, patient and understanding. Not everyone on the trip may be vegan. However, we do ask that while with the group, no animal products are consumed. Please be courteous of those who have different view points. This is a group of strangers traveling together who will become friends — remember kindness is key. And so is travel insurance. We recommend World Nomads.

How to plan a vegan-friendly vacation

How to plan vegan travel. Vegan travel tips

Planning a vacation as a vegan can be both exciting and challenging. However, with the growing popularity of plant-based lifestyles, there has never been a better time to embark on a vegan-friendly adventure. These vegan travel tips are for you!

As someone who thrives on vegan travel planning, curates and hosts award-winning international vegan group trips and was one of the world’s top travel bloggers before entering into this amazing vegan world, I’ve got some vegan trip planning ideas for you.

This guide will provide you with tips and resources to plan the perfect vegan vacation. From choosing vegan-friendly destinations to finding plant-based dining options and unique vegan experiences, I’ve got you covered. And, if all of this seems like too much, book on one of my vegan tours or reach out for my vegan travel concierge and trip-planning services!

So, let’s dive in and explore how to make your next vacation a memorable and delicious vegan journey.

Research Vegan-Friendly Destinations

When planning a vegan-friendly vacation, the first step is to choose a destination that caters to plant-based lifestyles.

The best search terms for vegan trip planning

When conducting online research, using the right search terms will help you find relevant information about vegan-friendly destinations. Some effective search terms include “vegan-friendly cities,” “best vegan destinations,” “vegan travel guide,” “vegan restaurants in [destination],” and “vegan activities in [destination].” These search terms will generate results that offer insights into vegan options, vegan communities, and local vegan hotspots.

Check out Facebook Groups

Facebook groups dedicated to vegan travel are excellent resources for gathering information and recommendations from experienced vegan travelers.

Joining these communities allows you to connect with like-minded individuals who can provide firsthand insights into vegan-friendly destinations, restaurants, and accommodations. Engage in conversations, ask for recommendations, and share your own experiences.

Some popular vegan travel Facebook groups include “Vegan Travelers,”and  “Vegan Tours and Vacations.”

Work with vegan travel agencies

Vegan travel agencies specialize in curating travel experiences that cater to vegan lifestyles. They take the guesswork out of planning by offering pre-planned itineraries to vegan-friendly destinations. These agencies have extensive knowledge of vegan cuisine, accommodations, and activities in various locations. By partnering with a vegan travel agency, you can ensure a stress-free and vegan-focused vacation.

Some popular vegan travel agencies include Veg Jaunts and Journeys, Green Earth Travel, and Kind Traveler. If you want to explore Africa, connect with Alluring Africa where I am their curator for all things vegan and help plan trips.

Go for low-hanging fruit and travel to well-known vegan-friendly cities

Researching vegan-friendly cities and countries will help ensure you have ample dining options and access to vegan amenities.

Popular vegan-friendly destinations include Berlin, Germany; New York, New York, USA; Tel Aviv, Israel; and Chiang Mai, Thailand.  There’s also Las Vegas, and you’re in luck if you’re planning a trip here because I’ve got allllll the vegan food suggestions and a dining guide to the best vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in Las Vegas.

But, I digress.

Berlin, Germany

Berlin has emerged as a vegan mecca, complete with a thriving vegan food scene. Start your culinary journey at Kopps, an upscale vegan restaurant offering innovative plant-based creations and tasting menus. For a taste of authentic German cuisine, visit Lucky Leek, a Michelin recommended restaurant. Here,  traditional dishes are given a seasonal, vegan twist.

Tel Aviv, Israel

Vegan travel tip: eat all the hummus in Tel Aviv. For more vegan travel tips and vegan travel planning visit www.vegansbaby.com

Tel Aviv is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city that has embraced the vegan lifestyle with open arms. Experience the bustling vegan food scene by dining at the famous Anastasia Café or indulging in creamy hummus at the most famous, and oldest hummus joint, Abu Hassan. Get there early, the line wraps down the block most days. But, the wait is absolutely worth it.

Don’t miss the vibrant Carmel Market, where you can find fresh produce and vegan snacks. And, if you happen to book your trip in June, be sure to check out the world’s largest vegan festival put on by Vegan Friendly.

New York, New York

Jerrell's Betr Brgr is a vegan burger restaurant in New York City open late. For more vegan dining in New York City visit www.vegansbaby.com

As a current NYC resident, of course this city is on my list of top picks. Fortunately, there’s a good reason other than my living there — it’s loaded with amazing vegan restaurants. For the best burgers you’ve ever sunk your teeth in to (anywhere), Jerrell’s Betr Brgr is where it’s at. There’s also an all-vegan pizza joint, Screamer’s, where you can grab a NY slice of pizza, and the wildly popular Whipped Urban Desert Lab where you can indulge your ice cream cravings. For more vegan eats, be sure to check out all my top vegan picks in NYC.

In the summer, there’s the Vegan Night Market in Central Park, and year-round you can find tons of vegan foodie events.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Your guide to where to eat vegan food in Chiang Mai, Thailand. For more vegan guides, visit www.vegansbaby.com/vegansbaby2018

I lived in Chiang Mai for a few years in the mid 2010s and it’s an excellent destination. Nestled in the mountains of northern Thailand, it is a paradise for vegan travelers. Enjoy a feast at Vegan Heaven, the first vegan restaurant to open here, offering an extensive menu of Thai and international vegan dishes. Other of my favorites Chiang Mai restaurants includes the restaurant at Green Tiger House, an all-vegan hotel, where you can try the local dish, khao soi, a coconut soup made vegan.

Also, swing by  Pun Market. It offers a variety of vegan food options and locally made organic products.

Utilize Vegan Travel Resources

To plan a successful vegan vacation, take advantage of the numerous vegan travel resources available. Online platforms like HappyCow, and VegVisits provide valuable information on vegan-friendly restaurants, accommodations, and local tips from vegan travelers. Utilize these platforms to discover hidden vegan gems and connect with like-minded individuals.

Additionally, consult vegan travel blogs (hi!), guidebooks, and social media accounts for personal recommendations and insider insights. These resources will help you navigate unfamiliar destinations and find the best vegan spots around the world.

Accommodations for Vegans

Choosing vegan-friendly accommodations is essential for a seamless vegan vacation.

Experience vegan Thailand with Vegans, Baby. For more vegan world tours, visit www.vegansbaby.com
Away Chiang Mai is an veg hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Look for hotels and resorts that offer vegan dining options or have vegan-friendly policies. Many hotels now provide plant-based alternatives for breakfast, and some even have dedicated vegan menus.

Be sure to check with your hotel to determine if they have vegan and cruelty-free products, down-free pillows and blankets and more.

Opting for eco-friendly and sustainable accommodations is also a great way to align with your ethical values. Consider staying at vegan hotels, eco-lodges, or vegan-friendly Airbnbs. These accommodations often prioritize sustainability, cruelty-free products, and a plant-based ethos.

Vegan Dining Experiences

One of the highlights of a vegan vacation is indulging in delicious plant-based cuisine.

Prioritize exploring vegan restaurants, cafes, and food markets in your chosen destination. HappyCow is an invaluable resource for finding vegan-friendly eateries worldwide. Research and make a list of vegan restaurants to try, and don’t forget to sample local vegan dishes and culinary specialties.

Engage with locals, chefs, and fellow vegans to discover hidden gems and insider recommendations. Additionally, consider taking vegan food tours or cooking classes to immerse yourself in the local vegan culture and learn new culinary skills.

If you really want to explore with experts, I offer curated international group tours regularly and you can find out when my trips when you sign up to be alerted on the next experiences.

Ethical and Sustainable Activities

Incorporate ethical and sustainable activities into your vegan vacation to make a positive impact and gain a deeper understanding of the local culture.

Vegan safari and tour of Cape Town with Vegans, Baby and Alluring Africa.

Explore wildlife reserves and national parks where animals rule, or visit sanctuaries and animal rescue centers. Participate in eco-tours, beach cleanups, or nature conservation projects to contribute to environmental sustainability.

Engage in community-based initiatives, such as volunteering at vegan events or supporting local vegan businesses. This way, you can align your vacation with your ethical values and leave a positive footprint in the destinations you visit.

Vegan Travel Tips and Packing Essentials

To ensure a smooth vegan travel experience, follow these essential tips:

  • Research local customs and dietary preferences to understand cultural considerations and communicate your dietary needs effectively.
  • Pack vegan travel snacks and essential items such as reusable water bottles, vegan toiletries, and eco-friendly utensils.
  • Use sustainable transportation options like public transit or eco-friendly car rentals whenever possible.
  • Stay hydrated and nourished during travel by carrying a refillable water bottle and plant-based snacks.
  • Finally, embrace flexibility and have a positive mindset, as not all destinations may have the same vegan infrastructure as your home country.

Are you ready for some vegan travel?

Planning a vegan-friendly vacation allows you to explore the world while staying true to your ethical and dietary choices.

By researching vegan-friendly destinations, utilizing resources, selecting vegan accommodations, enjoying plant-based dining, and engaging in ethical activities, you can create a memorable and sustainable vegan travel experience.

Whether you’re seeking vibrant city life, serene nature retreats, or cultural immersion, there are countless vegan vacation ideas waiting to be explored. Embrace the adventure, savor the flavors, and embark on a journey that aligns with your values and passion for veganism.

Happy travels!

Vegan travel food for your next vegan vacation

Let’s face it: when it comes to vegan travel, it can be daunting. From road trips to flights, you’ve got to make sure you’ve got vegan travel food packed because you never know what you’ll find out in the wild. We’ve spent years traveling as vegans around the world, from SE Asia to Europe to Africa and beyond. So, when it comes to what snacks to pack that are vegan, we’ve got you covered.

Thankfully, vegan travel has certainly gotten easier over the years thanks to vegan tours and vegan tour operators. But, you’ve still got to get to your destination. And that’s where this handy list comes in.

Before you hit the road or skies or whatever mode of transit on your next vegan vacation, make sure you’ve got vegan travel food packed.

Our favorite vegan travel food items

1. Hippeas

Looking for vegan travel snacks? Here's a list of 9 vegan travel foods!

When Starbucks first started carrying these at the airport, we were overjoyed. These puffy Cheeto-esque white cheddar snacks were vegan perfection and so they quickly became purchase number one at the airport. Now, we grab Hippeas at the grocery store before we even head out.

2. Hummus and veggies

Hummus and veggies make a perfect vegan snack

Most airports have shops that sell hummus and crackers or hummus with veggies. These are perfect snacks for the plane. Or, if you’re not flying you can grab a big tub and pita chips, etc. for a road trip snack.

3. Dried fruit

Looking for vegan travel snacks? Here's a list of 9 vegan travel foods!

Dried fruit makes a perfect vegan travel food that’s sweet and healthy. You can find relatively cheap dried fruit at spots like Trader Joe’s or if you’re a planner, you can order them online.

4. Fruit and veggies

Looking for vegan travel snacks? Here's a list of 9 vegan travel foods!

Grapes, carrot sticks, bananas, salad (you get the point) are great vegan travel foods. They’ll withstand not being refrigerated for a flight. Plus, they make a healthy snack.

5. Nuts

Looking for vegan travel snacks? Here's a list of 9 vegan travel foods!

Nuts always are a good vegan snack when you’re traveling. You retain water with salty foods like nuts when flying, so make sure if they’re salted that you drink a lot of water.

6. Chips

Looking for vegan travel snacks? Here's a list of 9 vegan travel foods!

While you’ve got to keep an eye out for ingredients brands sneak in like milk powder, chips are a good travel snack. Our go-to is Frito’s but there are plenty of options.

7. Pretzels

Looking for vegan travel snacks? Here's a list of 9 vegan travel foods!

Pretzels are normally vegan, so you’re all set with these for vegan travel snacks. Vegans, Baby’s top pick are the ones from Trader Joe’s that are filled with peanut butter. Because, peanut butter.

8. Popcorn

What to pack for your vegan tour snacks

Pop some popcorn or grab yourself a bag of Skinny Pop and take it with you on your travels. It’s light, and an easy mess-free snack. They even make little 100-calorie bag servings to make it easier.

9. Energy bars

Looking for vegan travel snacks? Here's a list of 9 vegan travel foods!

Before long haul trips, we always stock up on energy and protein bars. They’re a decent meal replacement if you’re hungry and forgot to order a vegan meal on the plane or need to eat between meals. Our favorite is the Trader Joe’s Barebell protein bar.

The Cheesecake Factory may have a massive menu, but when it comes to vegan options the menu is a lot smaller. That being said, there are vegan options at The Cheesecake Factory.

Everything that's vegan at The Cheesecake Factory. For more vegan dining visit www.vegansbaby.com

To make sure the information provided is 100-percent accurate, we reached out directly to The Cheesecake Factory to create this list of vegan dishes at the restaurant.

Looking for other chain restaurants with vegan options? We’ve got you covered for Taco Bell, Cafe Zupa’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, Del Taco, Panera Bread and more.

What’s vegan at The Cheesecake Factory

Let’s start with the salads. First, there’s the vegan cobb salad.

One of the most well-known vegan dishes on the menu, the vegan cobb features lettuce and tons of veggies. It includes avocado, grilled asparagus, roasted beets, green beans, tomato, cucumber, carrots, quinoa and farro. The salad comes topped with almonds and toasted pepitas and tossed in the house vinaigrette.

Next are the other vegan salads — the Little House and Tossed Green. Mixed greens, veggies and tomatoes and a choice of dressings make up both salads.

Vegan dressing options are balsamic, shallot, SkinnyLicious mustard and the French mustard vinaigrettes.

For an appetizer, the edamame is vegan.

As for the main course, the Impossible Burger is vegan at The Cheesecake Factory. The newest addition to the vegan options, the burger comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion and vegan mayo on a toasted bun. It’s a part of the restaurant’s SkinnyLicious® menu. If you’re not familiar with that, it’s a collection of options that are 590 calories or less.

Sadly, there are no vegan cheesecakes or any vegan dessert on the menu.

Dishes you can veganize at The Cheesecake Factory

There are a couple of dishes you can make vegan at The Cheesecake Factory. First is the the chips and guac (hold the sour cream).

Second is the veggie burger. In order to veganize the veggie burger, hold the garlic dip, substitute the mayo, bun and cheese for the vegan versions.

Finally, we’ve learned that the sugar used in the Korean cauliflower sauce is not vegan sugar … so whomp whomp.

Let’s answer the question you’ve all been wondering, does Dutch Bros have vegan-friendly options?

YES, Dutch Bros has plenty of vegan-friendly options.

Not only can you order a coffee with non-dairy options such as soy milk, almond milk, oat milk or coconut milk, you can also add a variety of flavors that are vegan-friendly.

How do you know what is vegan at Dutch Bros?

It’s not always easy to tell what’s vegan at Dutch Bros since there aren’t any markings on the menu. Knowing what’s vegan is where things get tricky.

The posted Dutch Bros Coffee menu listed outside the window is very minimal, making it of a guessing game if you live a vegan lifestyle (or haven’t seen this yet). Luckily, our Broista (yup, that’s what they’re called) was also vegan and gave us the rundown of vegan Dutch Bros drinks. And, there are plenty of dairy-free options thanks to vegan milk.

Lattes, Americanos and Cold Brews are fine with dairy-free milk alternatives. The Oat Milk Kicker, which launched in 2021, is one of the best vegan drinks and features creamy oat milk and espresso.

Stay away from the Freezes and Rebels if you have a vegan diet.

If you prefer a blended dairy-free drink, ask for a Carburetor — a blended frozen drink minus the pre-made Freeze mix (which includes dairy), for example. It’s a popular vegan beverage.

Being new to the world of Dutch Bros, and since there is such a wide variety of vegan drinks, we asked our Broista to suggest a few tasty options we could try.

We sipped on the Nitro cold brew with dark chocolate and coconut milk, as well as an iced soy latte with chocolate macadamia nut. Both were delicious drinks. We’d definitely get them again.

What are non-vegan ingredients on the Dutch Bros menu?

In addition, when we reached out to Dutch Bros Coffee to confirm our findings and they sent over a list of all of the non-vegan items at Dutch Bros – talk about amazing customer service (!). So, it’s a good idea to steer clear of the following dairy products add-ins when creating your deliciousness.

Non-vegan items at Dutch Bros include:

  • Dairy milks
  • Dutch Chocolate blend
  • Kick Me (also known as half-and-half)
  • Whipped cream
  • Soft top (made with heavy cream)
  • Any Frost drink (ice cream shake)
  • Caramel sauce
  • White chocolate sauce
  • Sugar-free white chocolate sauce
  • Pumpkin sauces (seasonal)
  • Eggnog (seasonal)
  • Almond roca syrup
  • English Toffee syrup

The hazelnut, brown sugar cinnamon and Rebel syrups use cane sugar, and it is unclear if they are vegan. In addition, Dutch Bros also uses natural flavors which may or may not be derived from animals or plants.

When it comes to teas, all are vegan except the Astronaut, Trixie and Dutch Mojito teas. You can make the first two vegan by swapping out the dairy base, the almond roca syrup. The smoothies and Dutch sodas can all be made vegan by holding the whipped cream. As for the Dutch Bros foods, sadly none of them are vegan.

Finally, please confirm the vegan menu items with your Broista next time when ordering to make sure your order is entirely vegan … just to be safe. And, enjoy Dutch Bros’ most popular drinks and plant-based options.
