Built into a shipment container within the MSA Annex and located just west of the I-10 in Tucson, sits this all-vegan burger joint, Beaut Burger. This vegan restaurant in Tucson serves up classic style and unique burgers while keeping the menu simple with names such as B1, B2, B3 … and so on.

Beaut Burger is a vegan restaurant in Tucson. For more vegan options in Tucson, visit www.vegansbaby.com

Beaut Burger has an assortment of appetizers and sides such as the herb fresh French fries and the beer-battered cauli bites that come with sauces on the side. You can discover unique burgers such as B5 — zhoug (Yemen-inspired spicy cilantro), ranch, cucumber, and lettuce all served on the housemade fermented bun.

Beaut Burger is a vegan restaurant in Tucson. For more vegan options in Tucson, visit www.vegansbaby.com

Enjoy the burgers made with a combination of beans, grains, and vegetables served up an English muffin bun that is made through a slow fermentation process. Take a bite into a classic burger topped with mustard, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and cheese (they call this the B2) or take a tastebud adventure on one of many burger concepts.

Burgers such the B7– peanut butter, tamarind chutney, romaine showcase the creative vegan burger options at Beaut Burger.

Another favorite of ours is the satisfying burger with a pleasant union of sweet BBQ sauce and coleslaw packing just enough heat to balance it out – also known as the B3.

In the mood for something besides a burger?

Beaut has options for you including the Bedeviled, a take on the classic egg salad sandwich easily paired with the potato salad as a side. There’s also the Wry Reuben made with tempeh, sauerkraut and Swiss, topped with Thousand Island and sandwiched between marble rye.

While Beaut has amazing drinks to offer such as refreshing limeades and clean soda options like the Cherry Vanilla from Blue Sky, adults can grab a beverage from the bar located in the same complex and enjoy it in either spots. Bring your ‘extended’ family member in to enjoy K-9-friendly treats and don’t forget to grab yourself a decadent Scooterchoo, housemade peanut butter rice crispies covered in velvety ganache.

Though the idea of being in metal containers surround by a décor of desert landscape may seem uninviting with the Arizona summers, rest assured that Beaut Burger has you covered.

Quite literally, we’d say.

The seating for this conceptualized diner is cleverly placed within the containers providing cooling/heating on the inside and misters on the outside to suit year-round weather.

Renee’s Organic Oven is a vegan-friendly restaurant in Tucson that’s been serving the community for almost 15 years.

Located on the East side, this restaurant kept in mind the deep values of serving healthy, organic food that is comforting. The vegan and gluten-free options make is easy for groups to get together without the worry of food restrictions.

When it comes to the vegan-friendly options at Renee’s Organic Oven, we start at the selection of appetizers.

Talk about comfort food — the garlic knots are always a winning choice and they come served with the housemade marinara.

Warm fresh bread made in-house pairs wonderfully with house salads like the Avocado — mixed greens, roasted pine nuts, and avocado dressed with extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, chives, lemon and sea salt. While the salad is a large item, splitting this with friends is a great appetizer course.

Renee’s also served two toastadas — the organic black bean toastada with salsa fresca, avocado and organic greens, and the hummus toastada with sun-dried tomatoes, greens, cucumbers, red peppers and black olives. Both come served on crunchy corn shells and are quite filling.

With dinner being served, we come to the best part … pizza!

The set vegan option — Vegan Crush — has red sauce, vegan pesto, zucchini, kalamata olives, artichokes, broccoli, and peppers. You can also order The Yucatan which comes topped with black beans, jalapeño, black olives, mixed greens, salsa fresca and avocado. Sub the normal cheese for the vegan Daiya and you’re set.

If you’re not in the mood for pizza, Renee’s also has a zucchini noodle pasta primavera which is a warm collection of artichoke, red peppers, garlic, onions, basil, broccoli, kalamata olives and spinach.

And then there’s dessert.

Gooey cinnamon rolls come smothered in a citrus glaze with mini pull off rolls for easy eating and sharing (if you want to share). Don’t worry about the messy fingers, this dessert is finger-licking delicious.

If you’re gluten-free, there’s dessert for you, too! The Berry Bundt is gluten-free and comes covered with the warm orange glaze.

 7065 E. Tanque Verde Rd., 85715, 520-886-0484, Tuesday – Sunday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Time Market, near the historic fourth ave in Tucson, once operated as a wood-fire pizza and deli counter. Nowadays, you can find vegan-friendly options created in a fully-renovated kitchen space at Time Market. Divided into a kitchen, dining area, grocery store, cafe, and wood-fire bakery, Time Market incredibly inviting and a great option if you’re looking for vegan food in Tucson.

Fresh baked bread and the vegan options include pain au levain (authentic French-style sourdough), walnut bread, and baguettes each made traditionally with simple ingredients of organic flour, salt and water.

Breakfast is a unique experience at Time Market. Inspired by jook, a Cantonese dish, Time Market serves a fantastic congee bowl. This dish has a base of rice porridge with house pickled red onion and cucumber, nori komi furikake, shichimi togarashi, seasoned peanuts, fresh cilantro and green onion with house chili oil. While the congee normally comes with an egg, you can make it vegan by asking them to hold it.

If you want something Mexican, order the tamal breakfast plate that comes complete with an organic house tamale pancake, salsa, cherry tomatoes, green onion and cilantro. Ask them to nix the egg on this dish, too.

Keep lunch light and refreshing with a beet pistachio salad. This healthy option features beets marinated in anise seed with sherry vinegar, olive oil and garlic  served on a bed of organic spring mix and topped with toasted pistachios and a drizzle of the house sherry vinaigrette. To make it vegan, ask them to leave the feta off the salad.

Another vegan option for lunch at Time Market is the house hummus plate which comes with sides of tabouli, cucumber, tomato slices, dolmas and house flatbread.

Evening is the perfect time to grab a cup or bowl of the daily soup (vegan- friendly options vary) or the potato salad, a dish made with organic Yukon gold potatoes, shallots, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, white wine vinegar, fresh parsley and oregano. Pair either of these options with the portobello sandwich which comes with house-roasted portobellos in a balsamic glaze, and topped with red onion, arugula and tomatoes sandwiched between two slices of  toasted pan au levain. Normally, it comes with mayo and cheddar so request it not to come on the sandwich.

Toast to the experience here with a beer from the tap selection, wine, bottled soda or tea.

444 E. University Blvd., 85705, 520-622-0761, Mon. – Sun.: 7:00am – 10:00pm

HeeMee Coffee + Bakery is an adorable and vegan-friendly coffee shop in Tucson that has won our hearts (and taste buds) with its sleek appeal and sweets.

Hidden away on the bustling street of Congress, HeeMee Coffee + Bakery is the newest edition to cafes located in Downtown Tucson. This family-run business offers a brightly lit and minimal spot to sit down and linger over a cup of coffee and one of the spot’s freshly-made pastries.

Here, patrons can order up hot or cold coffee creations with beans courtesy of local roastery Yellowbrick, and espresso beans from Verve Roastery in California. Add in some plant-based milks like creamy oat milk or almond milk to round-out your cup o’ caffeine.

Feeling like something sweet? Vegan-friendly desserts and pastries include classics like the simple chocolate chip cookie to more decadent options like their banana cheesecake.

Tapping into her Korean roots, head pastry chef HeeMee creates items that are light and not overwhelmingly sweet. She also culls inspo from Japan and France, mixing them together to deliver pastries that will make you keep them all to yourself. Like the blueberry crumble. Yeah, we’re not going to share that one.

After breakfast, HeeMee moves over to more savory options and the aromatic smell of fresh-baked French bread fills the air. The seasonal sandwiches — like the summer baguette stuffed with beets, arugula and tart cornichon (pickled French gherkins) — are perfect for a quick takeaway lunch or to devour on the spot.

Every day is an adventure at HeeMee, so swing by for specials and more

20 E. Congress St., 85701, 520-207-1193, Monday – Friday: 7 a.m; – 4 p.m., Saturday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

With almost year-round sunshine, stunning desert scenery and mountain terrains, Tucson, Ariz. is a hot spot for adventurers seeking the great outdoors. Take a step into any part of town and the laid back Tucsonans demonstrate a real sense of community with a thriving culture of arts, live music, and — of course — the local array of restaurants. Surprising to many, eating plant-based here is incredibly easy. From the vegan-friendly items one can find at farmers markets to the restaurants that make up a variety of cuisines, planning your next vegan meal is always an adventure in taste. Fortunately, there are a lot of vegan food options in Tucson.

We’ve scoured the city, devoured the food and compiled our top seven picks for vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants you need to try in Tucson. Bonus: we also made this map of the restaurants in Tucson with vegan options that made our list. Happy eating!

HeeMee Coffee + Bakery

HeeMee, located in Downtown Tucson, is a new bakery with vegan-friendly items. Here, coffee made from Yellow Brick Roastery and espresso made from Verve Roastery can be paired with oat or almond milk. Add a vegan pastry like the blueberry crumble and pair it with a vegan sandwich after 11 a.m. (we dig the the beet with arugula), and that’s a great start to the day! Influenced by Korea, Japan, and France, these delicious pastries and sandwiches are made fresh daily. HeeMee is sure to leave your palette satisfied and have you coming back for each day’s new creations. 20 E. Congress St. Suite #110

Tumerico

Just like a visit to Grandma’s house, Tumerico has an instantly inviting atmosphere. This vegan restaurant offers new and made-from-scratch items everyday. A fresh and healthier take on Mexican eats, the goal of Tumerico is to “heal through food.” When available, the earthy mesquite pancakes drizzled with prickly pear syrup at breakfast are a must. For lunch or dinner, try the sopas – eggplant with jackfruit carnitas served on top of a Masa. Pro tip: order the Sonoran Hot Dog when it’s available. Want to take some of Tumerico home with you? Order up the housemade jack fruit carnitas to use in your own culinary masterpieces at home.  2526 E. 6th St.

Beaut Burger

Right next to San Mercado, the MSA Annex is home to Beaut Burgers modern take on classic burger joints. In the mood for something new? This vegan joint features uncommon burgers like the B9 that comes layered with roasted eggplant, pepita pesto, and housemade mozzarella and the B7, which features peanut butter, tamarind chutney, and romaine. But, that’s not all. Beaut also serves up vegan sandwiches like the Bedeviled, their take on the classic egg salad sandwich. Start your time here with an appetizer like the beer-battered cauliflower bites and end the meal with the decadent Scootcheroo that comes with a dangerously thick layer of heavenly chocolate ganache. Head there for happy hour and take advantage of their $1 limeade or fresh herb fries to add on to your meal. Bonus: it’s dog-friendly. 267 S. Avenida del Convento

Falora

Take a break from the daily buzz to sit down for an Artisan-made wood fire pizza in the earthy atmosphere of Falora, a vegan-friendly restaurant in Tucson. Falora’s red, brown, and copper colors bring the restaurant to life with a brick oven as the beating heart. Vegan Italian dishes here range from eats like the kale salad topped with kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and house-made cashew dressing, to the quirky Za Zucca pizza made with butternut squash puree, sliced zucchini, garlic, and sage. Dessert gets even better with a vegan chocolate pie in a nut crust and finished with a fruit puree. By the way, they’ve also got other pizzas you can devour if you hold the cheese. We dig it with grated Brazil nuts. 3000 E. Broadway Blvd.

The Cup Cafe

Well-known to many locals and popular to visitors, the historical Hotel Congress houses The Cup Cafe Restaurant. Their recently upgraded food menu has a vegan option for every meal of the day. For brunch, Tucson Tamale Company collaborates with Cup Cafe bringing a delightful vegan blue corn tamale drizzled with vegan verde crema and a slightly spicy calabacitas served along side our favorite tofu egg scramble with pico de gallo. A lunch must-try are the lettuce wraps filled with chickpea fritters, pickled veggies, smoked cashews, and topped with a harissa vinaigrette. The savory flavors come together as spices heat the palette and a sour sweetness balances it all out. Wash it down with a house made Horchata or a vegan Bloody Mary. Save room for dessert, they’ve got an amazing vegan brownie to satisfy that sweet tooth. The historical building in Downtown Tucson also features a beautiful outdoor area where live music is often played and folks come to enjoy a drink from one of three bars. 311 E. Congress St.

Lovin’ Spoonfuls

French toast smothered in berries and cream, club sandwiches with shoe string fries, and dinner specials like a Chik’n Fried Steak with mash potatoes and veggies … veganized. Is your stomach growling yet? Lovin’ Spoonfuls isn’t your typical restaurant serving comfort food; it’s a vegan restaurant in Tucson we can’t get enough of. With dishes like the Wildcat Burger layered with their house made soy patty, caramelized onions, tempeh bacon,  sriracha mayo and topped with housemade bleu cheese (swoon), or the Thai Curry that’s a rainbow of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, bell peppers, red onions tossed in a housemade red curry, it’s easy to add this to our list. Finish off your visit with a chocolate cream-filled cupcake, one of many locally crafted desserts. Proudly serving all, Lovin’ Spoonfuls takes a stance in the Pride community by offering a safe, relaxed environment to all genders, ages, and people. 2990 N. Campbell Ave. Suite 120

Urban Fresh

Similar to when parents create fun ways for kids to eat vegetables, Urban Fresh in Downtown Tucson creates absolutely delicious meals that fuel the body with plant-packed nutrients. This vegan restaurant in Tucson is a favorite for grabbing fresh juices, smoothies, or even a burger. Innovative thinking like the rice paper bacon served with their french toast breakfast is what keeps the daily specials selling out! Taking it a step further than most, Urban provides meals created with local produce, unprocessed ingredients, and little to no use of salt, oils, and sugars. Pro tip: when they serve the raw pizza special, run to try it. 73 E. Pennington St.
